Smoke Drink Run
In 2007 a character appeared in my imagination. A girl, living in a rural town with no options.
I started writing about her, and then her family appeared, her town, her life and her story. I put that work aside and freelanced, 10 years passed. I thought a lot about this character during that decade, she evolved over time. Her story came to life. In 2 years I wrote a first draft. I let a dozen or more people read it. Geoff Elliot went through it with a fine tooth comb and gave me incredible feedback.
In the first days of feedback, I raced to apply it to my work. My characters rebelled, so I sat with all the feedback, and over the course of the past year, I did something I didn't think I could do. I re-wrote in a completely different style and brought my characters to life, closer to a real life. Smoke Drink Run, is a story about people living in am impossible situation and finding themselves nonetheless. You can view the book as I post chapters on BOOKSIE. Thanks for reading and please share your thoughts and reactions.
